My hunt for the perfect city car ends with the Skoda Kylaq Signature+

My hunt for the perfect city car ends with the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ BHPian Paritoshkalra recently shared this with other enthusiasts: The secondary car search journey was a little extended for replacing my Elite i20. My Primary Vehicle is a Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid, which does the job for highway runs. However, in 2024 and 2025, I kept on searching for replacement for My Elite i20. I decided to sell my elite i20 if and only if I find an apt replacement for this supremely comfortable car(i20) In 2024, I was inclined towards Venue N-Line, but I rejected that car since it had a sunroof. Finally, I sold my Elite i20 car on 23rd September 202,5, and on 24th September 2025, I made the booking of KIA SONET HTX Diesel 1.5 AT after a lot of hopping between Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, Basalt, Taigun, Victoris, 3XO, Brezza, and Venue. I had never owned a Diesel car or a till date. All my current and previous vehicles have been Petrol mill, but after the GST 2.0, I am compelled to buy a Diesel car. The following 3 negatives vs 8 positives led me to zero in on my choice of my first Diesel Automatic car of my life- KIA SONET HTX 1.5 Diesel AT Positives: 1) Pure Automatic (Torque Convertor Gearbox) 2) Power & Torque – 250 NM of Torque is best in class 3) Better Fuel Efficiency 4) Beautiful Tan Colored Interiors 5) Ventilated Seats 6) Good camera Quality 7) Front Parking sensors 8) 2 Lakh reduction after GST 2.0 in Diesel Automatic Sonet Negatives: 1) Sunroof (I personally do not like Sunroof in my cars, so it’s a negative for me) 2) Probable DPF issues in the future 3) Crash Test Rating I was hoping to get the delivery of the Kia Sonet soon, but there was very little communication from the Kia dealer, and they informed me that there are no dispatches being done for AT cars from the plant. This led me to speed up my search for a secondary city car. I went to see the Victoris and Creta again. None of them appealed to me. I even tried to get Brezza AT for a test drive. However, from the back of my mind, I wanted to own a Skoda/VW product due to the sheer quality of paint, overall materials used inside the cabin, and the quality of fabric used in seats. I visited the Excel SKODA Showroom on 4th October, booked the Signature + AT Kylaq and finally took the delivery of this beautiful vehicle on 5th October (In less than 24 hrs of booking) Thanks to the dealership who allocated the car and it was also latest Manufacturing(Sept) and it was brand new car straight from the plant to the dealer, which was just driven 7 kms. The delivery process was a little slow as there were plenty of cars being delivered on 5th October. Yes, you heard it right. I have cracked a great deal since I bought the SKODA KYLAQ Signature + Automatic at 12.08 lakhs on-road. The salesperson was generous in offering me hefty discounts, and I did not disappoint him. I took delivery in less than 24 hrs of booking as promised. On the delivery day, I purchased Mud Flaps, Original Kylaq 7d Mats, Fender Garnish, and Body Cover at a reasonable price from the Dealership itself. The 7d Mats are even better than Autoform. These mats are tailor-made for Kylaq. Kylaq has impressed me with the availability of TC Automatic in the Signature Plus variant without a Sunroof. Finally, my dream to own pure automatics without a sunroof has also come true this time. My primary vehicle is an Innova Hycross VX, which also does not have a sunroof, and so is the case with my Kylaq now. My dad calls this Kylaq “Little Innova” as this car offers the seat comfort of a Toyota Innova. Yes, the seats of Kylaq are more comfortable than any car below and above its segment. For our safety, fit, and finish, AT without a sunroof is the priority, and Kylaq has fulfilled that. I am thankful to Team BHP members for their guidance in helping with my secondary car search during my journey.
