Two individuals transporting ganja from Chatrapur in Odisha to Mumbai were arrested by the Government Railway Police, Hyderabad, on Thursday evening. The officials seized 33.05 kilograms of ganja valued at ₹16.5 lakh from them.
The accused, identified as 26-year-old Rajesh Bishoyi of Gudagotha, Ganjam district, Odisha, and 29-year-old Sujata Singh of Gajapathi district, Odisha, were found in possession of two trolley suitcases containing sixteen bundles of ganja.
During questioning, Rajesh Bishoyi admitted that he was instructed by one Kishore Lima of Odisha, to transport ganja from Chatrapur to Mumbai for a payment of ₹1,000 per kilogram. Sujata Singh accompanied him. On October 8, the narcotics were handed over to the duo at Chatrapur Railway Station, and they boarded the Konark Express bound for Mumbai.
Fearing police inspection near Secunderabad Railway Station, they disembarked at Begumpet Railway Station, where authorities intercepted their luggage in the waiting hall.
A case was booked and efforts are underway to trace Kishore Lima.
