Tata Motors is in the final stages of preparing for the launch of its mega product – the all-new Sierra. Adopting a multi-powertrain strategy, this new midsize SUV will come with petrol, diesel and electric engine options. The Tata Sierra EV is expected to go on sale in November, while the ICE-powered version is likely to arrive in January 2026.
Engine Options
The all-new Sierra will be powered by 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbocharged petrol engines. Initially, the SUV will be offered with the NA petrol engine only. The turbo-petrol motor, which will arrive later, will deliver a maximum power of 170bhp and 280Nm of torque.
The diesel version is likely to use a 2.0L turbo engine borrowed from the Harrier. This oil burner produces a maximum power of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Higher trims will be exclusively offered with the AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The Tata Sierra EV might source the powertrain from the Harrier EV and deliver a range of over 500km.
Triple Screen, ADAS & More
Previous spy images reveal that the all-new Sierra will feature triple screens, which could be reserved for the higher trims. Following Tata’s new-age design language, this new midsize SUV will come with a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo in the centre.
The feature list might also include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, OTA (over-the-air) updates, Level-2 ADAS, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill hold descent control, ESP and more.
Design Highlights
The production-ready Tata Sierra will retain the OG boxy stance, alpine window design and wider B-pillars. Built on the new monocoque chassis, the SUV will feature ‘Sierra’ badging, sharply designed LED DRLs with interconnecting full-width LED strip, squared wheel arches, flush door handles, alloy wheels, thick body cladding, and LED taillamps.
