In Telangana, 5,663 liquor shop applications have been received so far for the 2,620 liquor shops.
Excise Commissioner C. Harikiran is monitoring the process and has directed officials to establish additional counters in Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and joint district divisions to ensure a smooth experience for applicants as the rush builds up in the final days.
In the last two years, the department received 1.32 lakh applications, This year, officials expect the figure to surpass previous records, with significant interest also coming from traders in neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
As per the information shared by the department, as of October 12, 671 applications have been received for shops reserved for the Goud community, 202 for SC-reserved shops, 84 for ST-reserved shops, and 46 under the general category.
District-wise, Rangareddy leads with 2,353 applications, followed by Hyderabad (746), Nalgonda (568), Medak (411), Karimnagar (392), Khammam (260), Mahabubnagar (278), Warangal (258), Nizamabad (255), and Adilabad (142).
