Tesla Model Y has received a small update, with the Model Y Long Range (LR) listed on the India website now showing a WLTP range of up to 661 km. Tesla’s first model for India, this electric SUV, was launched earlier this year and its LR variant was said to have a range of up to 622 km.

Model Y pricing on the official website remains unchanged, with the standard range variant priced at Rs 59.89 lakh and the LR priced at Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
This range update is likely a result of the shift towards more energy-dense batteries sourced from LG Energy Solutions. The Model Y SUV and Model 3 sedan have started receiving new, more energy-density batteries in global markets. Since the India-spec car is imported by CBU, the updated variant is expected to be available in the market immediately.
It is being said that the capacity of the new battery pack is now around 84 kWh, which is more than the 78 kWh battery of the old Model Y LR, which improves its range. The new battery does not bring any further changes to the vehicle’s performance, the Model Y Long Range still accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
Tesla finally arrived in India with much fanfare in July 2025, and the company is operating through two dealerships located in Mumbai and Delhi. However, the carmaker is accepting orders for the SUV from across India, though priority delivery is currently happening only in four cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Gurugram.
Delivery of Model Y in India will start in September 2025.
