Bison starring Dhruv Vikram, Anupama Parameswaran, Lal, Pasupathy has been in discussion from the moment it has been announced. Director Mari Selvaraj has made a name for himself with his filmmaking style and bringing oppressed communities to light. But the same formula seems to be going against him as Bison trailer attracts trolls.
The movie trailer has been released last night and it showcased Dhruv Vikram as a Kabaddi player. His arm gets dislocated and he is encouraged to still play and recover back to full health. While the performance of Dhruv and his look has been getting huge appreciation, Mari Selvaraj is facing huge trolls.
As he been delivering similar style of content, several people on online have been trolling the director that he is sticking to similar themes like visual representation and parallels to Bison. Talking about oppressed class even in sports drama and sticking to similar story, themes all the time.
While he gets best performances from his characters and delivers a good cinema, still sticking to similar themes does make it too routine, cliched. Pa.Ranjith has been facing similar issues and Mari Selvaraj needs to be clear about such issues. Bison is facing competition with Dude, Diesel at the box office for Diwali weekend.
Well, such sort of trolls post release can decrease the film’s appeal. Dhruv Vikram has not established himself like Pradeep Ranganathan and on the other hand, Harish Kalyan has delivered good hits, recently. We have to wait and see how Dhruv will prove himself at the box office with this in this tough competition on 17th October.
