Maruti’s Next BIG SUV Launching Soon

Maruti Suzuki aims to expand its SUV portfolio with a range of new models, and the Victoris is the latest addition to the lineup. It will be soon followed by another midsize SUV; however, this new model will feature an electric powertrain – the Maruti and Vitara.

The carmaker has already commenced exports, and is now preparing to launch the e Vitara in India. While its official launch date is yet to be announced, the electric SUV is likely to go on sale in December 2025.

Trims & Competition

The new Maruti electric SUV will be made available in three trims – Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and sold through Nexa dealership network. In the midsize electric SUV segment, it will take on the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE6 and MG ZS EV.

Batteries & Range

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh, using LEFP (Lithium Iron-phosphate) ‘blade’ cells sourced from BYD. The smaller battery will be paired with the front-axle mounted 142bhp, while the larger battery will be powered by a 172bhp electric motor. Both setups will produce a torque of 192.5Nm.

A FWD (front-wheel drive) system will come as standard. The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its exact range figures, but it has confirmed that the larger battery pack will promise a driving range of over 500km (MIDC).
