Hyderabad: Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed Principal Secretary, Education Department, to consider the representation made by petitioner Durgam Ravinder and take an appropriate decision within three months regarding the affairs and management of Hyderabad Public School (HPS) at Begumpet and Ramanthapur.

The petitioner sought directions to the State government to conduct a detailed inquiry into various issues concerning the management of the HPS Society, including closure of SC/ST hostels, implementation of reservations in admissions and recruitment, utilisation of funds collected from students, and outsourcing of contracts for teaching, catering, and other services.

He also questioned the construction of new buildings on the heritage campus without necessary approvals, encroachments on government-leased lands, and the alleged commercialisation of the schools.

The plea sought steps to ensure accountability and transparency in the functioning of the HPS Society and to restore its character as a state-run premier educational institution.

After hearing the matter, the Bench disposed of the petition by directing the Education Department to examine the petitioner’s representation and take a reasoned decision within three months in accordance with law.
