Self-styled baba arrested under POCSO Act in Adilabad

The Adilabad one town police on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) arrested a self-styled baba under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of curing her ailment on last Saturday.

The police identified the accused as Sk. Kaleem, a native of Maregaon village in Gadiguda mandal of Adilabad district.

On October 11, the accused allegedly visited the house of the ailing minor girl claiming to cure to her recurring ailment. He kept the girl in a room pretending to perform some “special rituals” under the guise of curing her illness. He allegedly raped the girl that same night.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested him.
