Tarun Garg, Whole Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai India, has been appointed as the next MD and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. The appointment will be effective from January 1, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. This is the first time in Hyundai India’s three-decade history that the company will be headed by an Indian. He succeeds current MD, Unsoo Kim, who will take up a new role at South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Company (HMC).

Garg has over 32 years of industry experience and has been serving as Head of Sales, Service and Marketing at Hyundai India since 2019. During this period, he led the brand to its highest ever sales for three consecutive years, achieved record breaking profits and highest EBITDA margin in FY24. Before Hyundai, Garg spent a long time at India’s leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki, holding various responsibilities.
