Mahindra has finally updated the Thar with new features, five years after the launch of the current generation in India. The starting price of the new Thar 3-door is Rs 9.99 lakh which goes up to Rs 16.99 lakh for the most expensive variant. The car has been introduced with two new variants – LXT and AXT apart from two new color options – Tango Red and Battleship Grey.

Exterior changes include a body-coloured grille and a Rocks-like dual-tone front bumper. At the rear, the spare wheel now gets a rear-view camera, while the rear windscreen now gets a wiper and washer. Most importantly, there will be no need to use a key to open the fuel-filler cap, this will be done through a switch installed in the cabin.

There are a lot of changes in the cabin compared to before, like a grab handle for easy access to the driver’s seat as well as a center armrest with storage and a cupholder in the center console. The power window buttons have been placed in the doors instead of between the seats and there is soft-touch material on the door pads. Apart from this, you also get a 65W USB Type-C port and a wireless charging pad. The biggest change comes in the form of a new 10.25-inch touchscreen and it also has wireless smartphone integration. Finally, thanks to the armrest, rear passengers also get rear AC vents and a Type-C USB port.
