Siddhu Jonnalagadda has given a cult character like Tillu and he made a good impression on audiences with his Krishna and Leela, Guntur Talkies. After a disaster like Jack, he is starring in a romantic entertainer like Telusu Kada. After a movie like Mirai, People Media Factory are producing this and Thaman songs have become chartbusters. The movie released today and let’s discuss about the film in detail.
Plot:
Varun (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) is a successful chef who runs a posh restaurant in Hyderabad. He is an orphan and wants to find a woman in his life, to establish a good happy family of his own. He meets Anjali Sharma (Raashii Khanna) and they both try to have a baby to complete their family. But doctors diagnose Anjali has incapable of holding a baby.
As both of them get depressed, Anjali decides to meet an IVF specialist, Raaga Kumar (Srinidhi Shetty) and both of them become friends. Raaga decides to bare Anjali’s child and Varun is ecstatic. He feels like his revenge is complete as Raaga is his ex-girlfriend. Why did she leave him? What will Anjali do after knowing the truth? Watch the movie to know more.
Analysis:
Siddhu Jonnalagadda is able to understand the complexity of the role and he did his best as a performer. He is convincing as a performer in this different and typical role. But his screen presence did not really set the ball rolling in the second half, where things needed to be more emotional and convincing, as writing falls short.
Raashii Khanna and Srinidhi Shetty looked good as city ladies with strong characters but the writing for their roles is also very basic. Their actions needed to be convincing after a point with audiences getting some sort of understanding about their inner turmoil.
As a writer, Neerraja Kona seems to have submitted to Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s conviction and tried to work with the subject matter in his style. She needed to add some more context to leading lady roles, as the emotional connect cannot be achieved with only one side of story being narrated.
It is not a fun film like Tillu where one character can ride entire movie on its shoulders. The movie needed a balance of characters between the three main roles but it fails in establishing such a connect as hero character side of things are only explored and others are left for audiences filling the spaces.
The story resembles films like English Pellam East Godavari Mogudu, Thaali, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Pretty Woman in story and execution. S Thaman’s songs work to an extent but his background score is not effective. Writing falls short big time and lack of emotional connection makes this film, problematic and unconvincing.
Bottomline:
Telusu Kada falls short as narrative becomes too one-sided and repetitive.
Rating: 2.25/5
