Skoda Auto India has launched the new variant of Octavia RS in India at a price of Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Booking of this performance sedan started from October 6, of which only 100 units have been booked and all the units have been sold. Interestingly, the Octavia RS is priced around Rs 1 lakh less than the Volkswagen Golf GTI. For those who have booked it, delivery will start from November 6.

This hot sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. This engine is equipped with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) transmission. Skoda claims that it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and its top speed is 250 km/h.

Although the overall look remains the same as the regular Octavia, the RS variant stands out with a number of visual changes. These include a blacked-out butterfly grille, matrix LED headlamps with updated DRLs, new front air intakes and two-dimensional Skoda and RS logos.

In India, the Octavia RS is available in a single fully-loaded trim. There are 5 exterior color options available, which include Mamba Green, Race Blue, Velvet Red, Magic Black and Candy White. The car comes with 19-inch ‘Elias’ anthracite alloy wheels.

Talking about the features, Octavia RS has ADAS system, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Assist and Intelligent Park Assist. Safety features include 10 airbags, 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, head-up display and stability and traction control system. Other features include Canton 675W 11-speaker sound system with subwoofer and electric boot.
Skoda Octavia RS is making its own identity in the Indian market. Its closest competitor is the Volkswagen Golf GTI, while other vehicles from BMW and Audi offer comparable performance but are priced higher.
