Weeks after making public the crash safety ratings for the all-new Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Bharat NCAP has now published the crash test safety ratings for the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. Maruti’s most expensive model available on sale in India has received a full 5-star safety rating – the same as its sister model, the Toyota Innova Hycross.
For adult occupant protection, the Invicto scored 30.43 out of 32 – slightly lower than its Toyota HiCross sibling’s score of 30.47. This score also placed it behind the new Maruti Victoris, which got 31.66 points out of 32.
In terms of occupant protection, the Invicto scored adequate to good levels of protection for adult occupants in frontal offset, side pole and side barrier impact testing. It scored 14.43 out of 16 in the frontal offset barrier impact test, while it got a total of 16 points for side impact protection.
Talking about child safety, the MPV scored 45 out of 49 points, getting maximum marks in dynamic score and child restraint system installation. However, it dropped points in the Vehicle Assessment Score—something seen in almost all five-star rated models.
The Invicto is Maruti’s most expensive car sold in India and is also essentially a re-engineered model of the Toyota Innova Hycross – a part of the model-sharing agreement between the two companies. However, the Invicto has a few differences from its Toyota HiCross sibling, such as the absence of a non-hybrid variant and missing out on some features such as power-adjustable second row captain seats, extendable ottomans and Level 1 ADAS function.
