Hyderabad: In a special drive against drunk driving conducted by the Cyberabad traffic police over the weekend, police said they caught 480 drivers in an inebriated state.According to officials, out of the 480 offenders, nine had BAC levels ranging from 301mg/100ml to 550mg/100ml, 38 had levels ranging from 201mg/100ml to 300mg/100ml, and 423 had BAC levels ranging from 35mg/100ml to 200mg/100ml. Most of the offenders were two-wheeler riders (371), followed by four-wheeler drivers (85), three-wheeler drivers (19), and heavy vehicle drivers (five), according to the police.The police said they conducted a similar drive last week, in which they registered 372 drunk driving cases. Of these, 357 offenders were charged a fine and 15 were sentenced to jail. Apart from them, 20 were assigned social service as part of the punishment. The police said the offenders from this weekend’s drive will be sent to judicial custody.
