National crush Rashmika Mandanna and Bollywood hero Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest film ‘Thama’. This movie from the Maddock horror comedy universe got a grand release worldwide today. Let’s see how this movie fares in this review.

Story:

Delhi-based journalist Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana) goes into the jungle with his colleagues on a mission. Unexpectedly a bear tries to attack him. In this sequence, Tadaka (Rashmika), a vampire, saves him. Alok likes her because of this. But what kind of turn did Alok’s life take because of Tadaka..? What kind of problems did he face? Who is Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui)? What is his relationship with Tadaka..? If you want to know these things, you have to watch the film ‘Thama’ on the silver screen.

Plus Points:

Among the movies from the Maddock horror comedy universe, ‘Thama’ has come to the audience with a good story. Even if the screenplay is not interesting, the point of the story is good which is a plus point for this movie.

Rashmika Mandanna’s character has been written very well. Rashmika’s role is one of the best in Bollywood. As a vampire, Rashmika has acted carefully without any mistakes.

Ayushmann Khurrana once again impresses with his distinctive performance. Ayushmann impresses in a character with two shades. He impresses the audience especially in the second half. Some comedy scenes in ‘Thama’ will also please the audience.

Minus Points:

‘Thama’ has an interesting story than other films in this franchise. But, it failed to impress the audience completely. Although there are some funny moments, they don’t connect with the audience.

Although there are some good moments in the movie, the movie is mostly boring. It must be said that the story of the movie Thama is very week. The editing team should do a much better job on this. Even if one or two songs were removed, the movie would have gone well.

The Telugu dubbing work for this movie was also a minus. As the film is coming from such a prestigious production, better work needs to be done in terms of dubbing. The climax episode also needs to be written better. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character also needs to be shown more powerfully.

Technical Department:

Sachin-Jigar’s music is not very impressive. The songs don’t impress, the BGM is also a bit overworked. Saurabh Goswami’s cinematography work is good. But, better care should be taken in the matter of editing. The VFX work is good. The Telugu dubbing work for this movie should have been much better. Although the writing team work is good, director Aditya Sarpotdar could not handle this film properly.

Verdict:

Overall, though ‘Thama’ has a good story, the film’s screenplay has damaged the film. Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana impress with good performances. But, the film’s slow pace, stretched scenes and weak climax episode have damaged the film. Lovers of horror-comedy films are better off watching this film with low expectations.
