BHPian Mustang Sammy recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Every week the situation on the Expressway seems to be getting worse. This is what we get for Rs. 320 one way toll. The rains especially are a killer. Somehow the water from Indian clouds must be more corrosive, as other countries with equal to heavier rainfall seem to have OK roads. SoBo also seems to be exempt from this issue, at least where the politicians live. Likewise with the Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai. The approach to the expressway on NH48 (Bangalore-Mumbai highway) is flooding prone and has jolt-level patchwork. Above pics are taken in the ghats. Potholes and shoddy patchwork galore. Half done tarring, resulting in a massive and dangerous step between lanes The final descent near Khalapur. The road quality is so bad that vehicle bounce around dangerously, especially in the right lane. The solution by authorities: reduce the speed limit to a ridiculous 60 kmph and extort fines from the motorists, rather than fixing the road.
