HYDRAA steps in to secure land allocated for park, hall

Acting on a complaint from colony representatives, the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has thwarted attempts to commercialise a layout open space allocated for a park and community hall at Kondapur on Friday.

At Raghavendra Colony of Kondapur, 2,000 square yards was shown as park/community hall in the layout. Occupying the land, a few persons divided it into 10 plots with fake plot numbers and constructed a shed in each plot, a statement from HYDRAA informed.

The encroachers had also got the plots regularised and secured building permissions for construction. With the colony residents seeking legal recourse, upon directions from the High Court, GHMC withdrew the permission, and revoked the regularisation, the statement said.

Representatives of Raghavendra C Block Welfare and Cultural Association approached HYDRAA through Prajavani programme about the issue, upon which chief A.V. Ranganath issued instructions for field verification. After inspection, HYDRAA officials confirmed that the land was allocated for community hall or park, and later, carried out an operation to clear the encroachments.

They also fenced off the land and installed sign boards indicating that it was a government land secured by HYDRAA.
