BHPian SnS_12 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Yamaha RZ350: Getting Faster And Smoother As The Miles Add OnGetting a new two stroke engine tuned up is a tedious task with multiple trials and errors and especially with the new unwanted blend of fuel and no usage during monsoons. I have been having issues with the RD 250 DS and RZ the most with fuel and while the fuel in the tank looks ok but in the carb bowl it’s a totally different story. So, a new alternative that I am trying is to empty out the fuel in the carb before storing the bike even if it means one week of non usage. Let’s see how that works out. Had washed the RZ for the first time post monsoon hibernation and took it out for its maiden spin today. The bike starts in half kick and was smooth and pulling effortlessly and touchwood it rode the best it has since the rebuild and without any midway drama. I thoroughly enjoyed giving it small burst of revs and the power delivery makes it way present in a prominent way post 4.5k rpms and max speed I touched was 100kph for a very brief time as the bike has just clocked a little over 350 kms of running in period. As the miles pile on I would start opening the throttle a little more and some hard in gear acceleration. Overall with six gears the bike pulls effortlessly even from 60kph without a downshift from top gear. For the Daytona we would need to open and inspect the clutch plates as it’s giving indications of being worn out. Hopefully the Indian RD 350 clutch and pressure should be a direct fit and if not its parts hunting/shopping once again… Some pictures… Fixing the rear grab rail properly back at home as the rubber insert was fitted incorrectly. Attending the bikes before they are packed up for monsoon HSRP plates done. As the bike doesn’t have a front number plate mount fitted it over the horn cover. Rear plates old vs new Looks much cleaner now After its first post monsoon wash Condition of the fuel inside the carb A sticky residue Fuel becomes murky when shaken. Nightmares of E20 nonsense. Time to lube the chain and top up the air in the tyres Warming up At Bandra Reclamation. Was a good day to ride not too hot Few clicks with the beautiful backdrop Exactly 333kms done in the running in period. Hope to complete running in the engine before December.
