BHPian Tgo recently shared this with other enthusiasts: If you have read my posts and dug around a bit, you would know that we have owned and driven only Dusters since 2012. Timeline: Purchase by the end of 2025 to Q2 of 2026 Intended ownership: Next 10 years, Self-Driven Running: 10-15,000 km annual (70% Highway, 30% City) Requirements Body Style: > 4m mid-sized SUV/Crossover Size: Seats 4.5 to 5 adults Boot Space: 400 L (+/- 50 L) Transmission: Automatic Engine: ICE/Hybrid Make: avoiding luxury marques (<25 Lac budget) Bonus: if the car can help make this 20,000 km trip possible with ease Round 1 - Trials and Rejections Grand Vitara/Hyrider (Hybrid) - Awkward rear seat (leg and head room), compromised boot spaceJimny - Claustrophobic (Definite NO - space, cruise ability, and handling)XUV 700 - Floaty rear endScorpio N - Never liked it before, don't like it now, even after improved suspension behaviour, probably a little too big for what we want. All these test drives were done by my dad, who would be the primary user. The feedback is also his. Round 2 - Contenders Victoris - Probably better than Grand Vitara in leg and head room, boot space is definitely up. Will they do an AllGrip Hybrid and make it an Indian RAV4? Non-hybrid drivetrain looks unappealing on paper.Creta - Seems to fit the bill perfectly. Confused about which powertrain to test drive.C3 Aircross - Perfect replacement for a Duster. Seems like the Relaunch of the 2012 Duster in many ways. Affordable price tag, but unknown reliability and after-sales support. Does the 5-seat max come with roof-mounted AC in the updated version? Does the 7-seat version have less 2nd row leg room?Basalt - Maybe a little better than C3 Aircross in ride.Curvv - Questionable looks and AMT diesel, already have a 2020 Nexon Petrol in the house, want to reject other options first.New Compass - if it launches under 25L? Very unlikely.Am I missing anything new or yet to launch? Looking for advice, pros/cons, and anything I am missing. Let me know, I want to keep this going till we finalize.
