Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed irrigation department officials to prepare plans for a project at Tummidihatti to draw 80 thousand million cubic (TMC) feet water and bring it to Sundilla barrage via Mylaram, from where it would be taken to Sripada Yellampalli project. The officials were instructed to prepare estimates to undertake repairs to Sundilla barrage at the earliest for this purpose.The project at Tummidihatti is one of the main components of the BR Ambedkar Pranahita–Chevella Sujala Sravanthi project. The previous BRS govt had opted for Medigadda site instead of Tummidihatti.The chief minister also instructed officials to come out with constructive plans for the repairs of Medigadda and Annaram barrages along with Sundilla of the Kaleshwaram project and ensure that the contract agencies were held responsible for that.At a review meeting along with irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and officials, Revanth Reddy shared the contents of the letter written by Union jal shakti minister CR Patil to him on taking up comprehensive dam safety evaluation (CDSA) studies of all the dams in Telangana. He also told them that CDSA of all the dams needs to be completed by Dec 2026. As a result, the officials were directed to prepare a status report and other plans to take up repairs and complete CDSA of all the dams in the state.“I will hold another review meeting in Nov second week on the steps to be taken based on the project-wise complete reports for CDSA and three barrages of the Kaleshwaram project. The contract agencies should be held responsible to prepare plans for the repair of the damaged barrages,” Revanth Reddy told the officials.Stating that by taking up the project at Tummidihatti to draw 80 TMC water, Revanth said Sundilla barrage should be repaired at the earliest to bring water from Tummidihatti to Sundilla and to Sripada Yellampalli project.After enquiring with the officials the status of the damages to the Sundilla barrage, he directed the officials to prepare plans to supply irrigation and drinking water to the erstwhile Adilabad district. The estimations should be prepared by taking into consideration and utilising feasible old works, he said.The CM also wanted the officials to prepare project-wise analysis of all the dams in the state and complete status reports of the dams should be submitted to him before the next review meeting.
