BENGALURU: Minister of Forests and Environment Eshwar Khandre in Monday was taken to task by Shivanand, son of deceased Rajshekar who was mauled by a tiger at Mulluru village of Sargur taluk of Mysuru district, a couple of days, after officials concerned shifted the body of his father for conduct of post-mortem in Mysuru city rather than at a government either in Sargur or Heggadadevana Kote taluks.
Eshwar Khandre arrived at the mortuary in Mysuru city to pay his condolences and Shivanand took exception to the Minister paying condolences to his father and suspected “post-mortem is being done in Mysuru city deliberately to the convenience of the Minister.”
Shivanand stated the body of his father was transported overnight without intimation to the bereaved family members and questioned “Why was post-mortem conducted in Mysuru city when it could have been done in Sargur or H.D. Kote?”
He demanded the Minister to initiate suitable steps to stop wild animals straying to the border villages so that no more human lives are lost and said he does not wish to accept ex gratia from the State Government over the death of his father from a tiger.
However, Minister Eshwar Khandre clarified he came to know over the post-mortem on the body of deceased Rajshekar conducted in Mysuru city en route and decided to offer condolences at the mortuary. He assured Shivanand to initiate action against erring officials if found anything wrong in the conduct of post-mortem.
