According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and INCOIS, waves up to 4.7 metres are expected along the Andhra coast between Nellore and Srikakulam till late Monday night. Light to moderate rains have already begun in coastal areas, with the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) confirming that the system is intensifying at 18 kmph.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured full central support after speaking with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has ordered hourly monitoring of the cyclone and evacuation from low-lying areas. Relief camps are being set up with cash aid, food, and medical teams on standby. In Odisha, over 5,000 personnel from NDRF, ODRAF, and Fire Services have been deployed across eight districts, including Ganjam, Koraput, and Rayagada, under a red alert.
Meteorologists warn that Hyderabad and Telangana will also witness heavy spells of rain, with IMD issuing orange alerts in three districts and urging citizens to avoid travel from Tuesday afternoon.
