Indian cars which I think will become modern classics in the future BHPian Dippy recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Modern classics is a term used to describe cars that have been around for many years but have achieved a cult status. Most of them are sought after even today. There are quite a few of them that I can think of:Mahindra ClassicFirst-gen Skoda Octavia vRSFirst-gen Honda City VtecE90 BMW 3 SeriesFord Fiesta 1.6 SFirst-gen Tata SafariHonda Accord V6Cut back to present times. Many cars that are on sale today will go on to become modern classics 25 years from now. Imagine something like a Classic Volkswagen Virtus GT club with owners showing off their prized possessions in the year 2045 . I thought of a few cars that I feel could qualify as modern classics two decades later:Maruti Ignis:A very underrated car. Fun to drive and funky looks. I feel this will be sought after in the future, just like the older 800s and the OG Zen. Volkswagen Virtus GT:A complete enthusiast sedan. 150 horses on tap and a car with tremendous mod potential. With more and more EVs set to take over in the future, this one will be desirable for a long time to come. Maruti Suzuki Jimny:I believe the Jimny will go on to become a future modern classic, just like the Gypsy. Also, the fact that it is seen less than the Thar makes it a little more special. A true mountain goat in challenging terrain as well. BMW M340i:Enough said!! A six-cylinder monster that can teach a thing or two to more expensive performance cars. A perfect Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde personality. Pure ICE power with limitless possibilities in terms of modifications. These are just a few examples that come to mind. There are many more for sure. I have limited my choices to cars on sale in the Indian market. So, which current crop of cars do you see becoming modern classics in the future?Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
