10 New Honda Cars CONFIRMED For India

Honda Motor Company has announced an ambitious plan for the Indian market, which includes the launch of 10 all-new product by 2030. The carmaker has confirmed 7 of these will SUVs including two electric SUVs based on the Honda 0 Series conceptsslated to arrive in 2027. Some of the upcoming models will be global imports brought to India as CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit), while others will be designed and developed locally to cater to market-specific requirements.

Upcoming Honda Subcompact SUV

The upcoming lineup will also include a sub-4 metre compact SUV or crossover aimed at rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO. It’s expected to arrive in 2029.

The Honda WR-V was the Japanese automaker’s last subcompact product in India, which was discontinued in 2023 due to poor sales and non-compliance with the BS6 Phase II emission norms. Currently, Honda Cars India’s product portfolio consists of three models – the Amaze subcompact sedan, the City midsize sedan and the Elevate midsize SUV.

Upcoming Honda Hybrid SUVs

Furthermore, the Japanese automaker will have a major focus on hybrid and electric vehicles in the coming years. While Honda hasn’t yet revealed its hybrid product strategy yet, media reports suggest that the carmaker might introduce a new three-row SUV with a hybrid powertrain in late 2027.

Interestingly, the upcoming Honda 7-seater SUV will could also be the first production model to feature the brand’s PF2 modular platform, which will also underpin the next-gen City sedan and the upcoming subcompact SUV. The new Honda 7-seater SUV will be positioned against the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and the upcoming Renault Boreal and Nissan’s version of the Boreal.

The Honda Elevate hybrid is also expected to launch in the second half of 2026 with the City e:HEV’s powertrain. The hybrid sedan features a 1498cc petrol engine, paired with an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and an e-CVT transmission. This setup delivers a maximum power of 97bhp and 127Nm of torque.

Increase Production in India

Honda Cars India also aims to expand its production capacity and strengthen its R&D operations to reduce costs and increase localization. The carmaker’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan currently serves as its only manufacturing facility in India with an annual production capacity of 180,000 units.
