Vijayawada: Bommakanti Phani Bhushan, Deputy Director (DNA Division) of the Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (APFSL), was honoured with the National Forensic Science Award for Excellence in DNA Analysis (2025) by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India.The award recognises Phani Bhushan’s outstanding contributions to the advancement of DNA technology and its effective use in criminal investigations. He received the award at the National Forensic Science Conference 2025, held in New Delhi on Friday.An MSc graduate, Phani Bhushan joined the APFSL in 1997 and served in various capacities from 2005 and as Deputy Director since 2013. Over his 28-year career, he handled numerous complex forensic cases involving biological evidence, helping law enforcement agencies resolve critical criminal investigations through precise DNA profiling.Officials of the Andhra Pradesh Police and the Home Department congratulated Phani Bhushan for bringing national recognition to the state’s forensic services.
