Capital city projects under scrutiny as Naidu steps up supervision

Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed officials and contractors to accelerate capital city construction and ensure timely completion of projects in Amaravati. Stressing that the city must reflect the state’s aspirations, Naidu warned against delays and emphasized that Amaravati should evolve into a world-class urban center.Reviewing the status of capital works, beautification, and registration of returnable plots at his camp office, Naidu set clear deadlines and announced that he would personally monitor progress every 15 days. “Works in capital Amaravati should align with schedules and targets, without compromising on quality or speed,” he told officials. The chief minister examined workforce deployment, material supply, and equipment availability. Expressing displeasure over companies that had not fully mobilized resources, he urged them to intensify efforts despite rain-induced delays. He also instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted gravel supply and coordinate with the mining department to avoid logistical bottlenecks. On land pooling commitments, Naidu reviewed the registration status of returnable plots for farmers who contributed land for the capital. Officials reported that registration was pending for 2,471 farmers due to minor technical or personal issues. Naidu directed MAUD minister P Narayana and senior officials in CRDA and Revenue to ensure farmers face no hardship and said he would meet them personally.Emphasizing aesthetics alongside infrastructure, Naidu called for sustained focus on greenery, beautification, and cleanliness across Amaravati. He urged agencies not to compromise on landscape and garden works and encouraged “iconic” private constructions to enhance the capital’s visual identity.“Amaravati should stand as a symbol of modernity, with high-rise buildings and planned urban spaces,” Naidu said. The review was attended by minister Narayana, senior officials from CRDA, ADCL, finance department, and representatives from construction firms.
