Fitting LED bulbs in the interiors of my Toyota Innova Hycross GXO

Fitting LED bulbs in the interiors of my Toyota Innova Hycross GXO BHPian dkaile recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Interior LED Bulb Upgrades:Sometimes I bemuse why this is not done by default by all manufacturers? Is it the cost or longevity or something else? First I procured the default choice of Osrams 1W 100 Lumen T10/W5W LED bulbs from Amazon, as also the 31mm Festoon Bulbs (of some local manufacturer), both of which I eventually did NOT use or replaced – After a few days. I found out about these Blaupunkt, a (now) Chinese brand, I was always sceptical about – But these were (claiming to be) DOUBLE the lumens of the Osrams to 200 Lumens, at just 1.6/1.7 Watts each – Here’s the Centre Cabin Light Bulb, whose shape is ideal in that setup, as is evidently clear in the photo, with 3 different types of connectors for Festoon, T10’s and even a BA9 adapter – Also has 3M adhesive tape at the back for proper installation – It had to bench tested and the result was amazing – The other T10.2 Pro also showed similar results and it had a metal alloy built quality – I then also received a even brighter, and at a lower cost due to it’s plastic built quality, T10 PRO bulb from Blaupunkt through their website, 499/- for a pair, which claimed a 250 Lumen brightness at 2W power rating – The 1st test mule was the Boot Light (Luggage Compartment Light as Toyota calls it), held by locking clips, which just comes out from the sides – This is the color of the wires and polarity of it’s connector – It’s manufactured by Lumax and the cover detaches easily as highlighted by points marked in red – The Housing Components laid bare. The bulb is a Toshiba 5W W5W – A Before Look – and then a After (with a Osram 100 Lumen T10) – Now it was time to check the Factuality of the Claim by Blaupunkt that their brightness is Double of the Osrams. A Lux Meter app was downloaded on the mobile. Here’s the reading with NO Light on – This reading is with the Osrams T10 – And this is with the Blaupunkt T10.2 PRO. The readings speak for themselves, Incredible!! – Next, it was time for the Centre Cabin Light (Rear Personal Light), which also easily pulls out by the tabs visible – The Bulb is accessed by removing a plastic cover at the back, in the direction of the arrow – The Festoon (Double End Bulb type) Bulb is measured and confirmed to be a 31mm one . However kindly note that it was 8W Bulb and not a 5W one, so brighter. The Toshiba 12V 8W – And that is why the Blaupunkt was a Perfect and Brighter replacement. Here it is perfectly in place with the 3M tape stuck inside – Day Shots of the Blaupunkt do not do justice to it’s brightness (night shots to follow along with the Atmosphere Lights upgrade) – Next were the Front Personal Interior Lights which were also gently pushed out of it’s place – These are held in place by 4 Plastic (Yellow) locks. Also visible are the 2 Locking Tabs at the Rear and the position of the 2x T10 Bulbs – The T10 Wedge Bulbs are to be rotated to be removed from their bulb holder – A closer look at the 2 tabs at the back which are to be slotted first and then the light needs to be pushed back to lock into place – These again are the Brighter 8W type Wedge bulbs and not the normal W5W. The Toshiba 12V 8W in it’s twist to lock/unlock bulb holder – The Before and After in one picture – The 250 Lumen 2W Blaupunkt T10 PRO were used here. At least double brightness from stock. Night shots to follow as mentioned earlier – A parting shot of the (unrelated to this post) Muffler Cutter just for it’s Toyota Logo ~ Lolz – MUCH MUCH more to follow. Cheers…Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
