Toyota Motor Corporation has announced 15 new models (including facelifts and Suzuki sourced models) for the Indian market, slated to arrive by 2030. The recently-unveiled Toyota Land Cruiser FJ and a new SUV, likely based on the IMV 0 ladder frame chassis, will be part of this future lineup.
Affordable Pickup In the Works
Furthermore, the Japanese automaker is developing an affordable pickup for the Indian market, aimed at semi-urban and rural buyers. In the Positioned below the Hilux in Toyota’s lineup, the new lifestyle pickup will cater to customers looking for a rugged, practical and budget-friendly vehicle. However, the product details are not available yet.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Coming In 2028
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will hit Indian roads in the second half of 2028, possibly around the Diwali season. As per media reports, the off-road SUV will be offered with multiple powertrains including a 2.7L petrol, strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid. Measuring around 4.6 metres in length, it will be the smallest model in the Land Cruiser family. The SUV features upright, boxy stance, underpinned by the Fortuner’s platform, while its interior is heavily inspired from the larger Prado.
Production Expansion
The Japanese automaker also plans to expand its annual production capacity to over 1 million units, supported by a new manufacturing facility that will soon become operational. Earlier this year, Toyota announced a major investment for its new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra.
The carmaker already has two manufacturing facilities in Karnataka including the new Bidadi unit. The upcoming Maharashtra plant will serve as key production hub for Toyota’s new SUV lineup, catering to both domestic and export markets.
Targeting Rural Markets
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, which already has a strong hold over the urban market, now aims to strengthen its footprint in rural and smaller towns. It plans to introduce compact workshops and showrooms with low-cost investment model, displaying limited models and focusing on fulfilling region-specific customer needs.
