Vijayawada: A 46-year-old brain-dead man gave a new lease of life to four patients after his family members consented to donate his organs in Vijayawada on Friday.According to information, the man, identified as Hari Vijay Kumar, a resident of Gudivada in Krishna district, suffered from seizures and was admitted to a local hospital. Medical investigations revealed that he had suffered a brain haemorrhage, and he was later shifted to Manipal Hospital, Vijayawada, after his condition showed no improvement.Following further medical evaluation by doctors at Manipal Hospital, Vijay Kumar was declared brain dead. With the consent of his wife, Yoga Vishnu Priya, and other family members, the decision was made to donate his organs.Accordingly, the liver and one kidney were transplanted to patients at Manipal Hospital, Vijayawada, while the second kidney was sent to Kamineni Hospital, Vijayawada, and the corneas were sent to LV Prasad Eye Institute, Vijayawada.The organ retrieval was carried out as per Jeevandhan guidelines under the supervision of AP Jeevandhan chairman Dr K Rambabu and Manipal Hospital director Ramanjaneya Reddy.
