Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday called on the four lakh voters of Jubilee Hills to “teach the Congress a lesson,” declaring that their verdict would send a message to the entire state.“If the people of Jubilee Hills reject Congress in this by-election, it will benefit four crore people of Telangana,” he said, urging voters to stand up against what he called the ruling party’s “failed promises and arrogance.” Addressing a series of roadshows in Shaikpet municipal division, KTR accused the Congress of trying to buy votes with money, telling people to “accept what they offer but vote for the BRS.” He said the by-election would mark “the revival of BRS’s victory march” and that the only question left was the size of the majority. KTR lashed out at the Congress govt’s performance, alleging that the party, which came to power with “420 promises and six guarantees,” had failed to deliver on any of them. “They promised ₹4,000 pensions and scooters for girls—where are they?” he asked, adding that “no section of society” had benefited in the last two years. Contrasting the two regimes, he said: “During the 10 years of BRS rule, every community saw progress—from infrastructure to welfare schemes. In two years, the Congress has undone much of that. They don’t even have the sense to continue programmes like Ramzan thofa, Christmas gifts, and Bathukamma sarees that benefited lakhs.” Recalling the BRS’s dominance in Hyderabad, KTR said that in 2023, the Congress had failed to win a single seat in the city. “People trusted the BRS and elected Maganti Gopinath three times from Jubilee Hills. That trust must now continue,” he said. Taking aim at the govt’s actions in Hyderabad, KTR accused it of bulldozing the homes of the poor under the pretext of development. “Instead of building Indiramma houses, they are demolishing existing ones in the name of HYDRAA. This election is a fight between the ‘car’ (BRS party symbol) and the bulldozer,” he declared. BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha, speaking at the roadshows, said her late husband Gopinath had worked tirelessly for the constituency’s development and welfare of the poor. “I seek your blessings to continue his work and serve you with the same dedication,” she said.
