Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV for India – the e Vitara – is all set to hit showrooms in December 2025. However, its exact launch date is yet to be announced. The model is essentially the production version of the Maruti eVX concept, which first broke cover at the 2023 Auto Expo. In the midsize EV segment, the all-new Maruti e Vitara will face challenge from the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV.
Manufacturing & Exports
Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat will serve as the production hub for the e Vitara. The carmaker has already begun exporting the SUV to 12 European countries including Germany, UK, Netherlands, Norway and France. Suzuki aims to expand its export to over 100 countries worldwide.
Battery Options & Range
The upcoming Maruti eVitara will be offered with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery will be paired with a single 144bhp electric, and deliver a maximum torque of 189Nm. The larger battery pack will be available with both 2WD, 174bhp and AWD, 184bhp configurations.
The AWD version uses an additional rear-axle mounted 65bhp motor, generating a combined power output of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. For the India-spec e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the electric SUV will offer a driving range of over 500km.
Key Features
Interior of the e Vitara appears more premium than the existing Maruti Suzuki cars. The EV has part fabric and part leatherette upholstery along with the dual screens (one working as an infotainment system and other as instrument cluster), a floating centre console in gloss black finish and a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel.
