After several delays, Maruti Suzuki is finally set to launch its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, in India. During a recent press conference, Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki, confirmed that the EV will be launched in December 2025. Production of the e Vitara for exports is already underway at the Hansalpur factory in Gujarat. The international version gets two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, and is available in single- and dual-motor configurations. The e Vitara offers features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. In India, the e Vitara is expected to be offered in the FWD single-motor version, offering around 500 km of range, while the AWD version will be introduced later.It will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra BE 6 and the MG ZS EV.
