Chairman and Managing Director of the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TG-Transco) D. Krishna Bhaskar, on Friday, inspected the flood-hit extra high tension (EHT) substation feeders at Attapur area on the Musi River bank and reviewed the power supply restoration work in all EHT substations.
Mr. Krishna Bhaskar stated that water has entered the 132 kV K.M. Pally sub-station in Nalgonda district due to heavy rains and flood submerging the equipment such as feeder bays, isolators, AB (air-break) switches and others. Sensing the emergency situation the engineers of the utility swung into action immediately and arranged power supply from alternative lines to the loads from other substations.
Two feeders, K.M. Pally to Kodandapur and K.M. Pally to Nasarlapally, were taken out of service by hand tripping the circuit breakers to avoid accidents. After attending to the repair works, normalcy of all the equipment was restored and the two feeders in the 132 kV K.M. Pally substation were put back into service.
Further, 132 kV Narsampet to Gudur feeder in the 132 kV Nekkonda substation in Warangal district got tripped and feeder was declared brokedown. After attending to the rectification works, the 132 kV Narsampet-Gudur line was put back into service and normalcy of power supply was restored. There was no interruption in power supply to any section of the consumers as alternative supply was arranged during the breakdowns.
The CMD instructed the field engineers to be vigilant and take up emergency works on a war-footing. Central breakdown gangs were also kept ready in all EHT substations for taking up immediate rectification of breakdown works. Director (Transmission) G. Sampath Kumar, Chief Engineer (Metro Zone) Chiranjeevi, Superintending Engineer (Metro-Central) Virendra Kumar Vohra accompanied the CMD during the inspection.
