Congress alleges BJP-BRS ‘secret deal’ in Jubilee Hills bypoll

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday accused the BJP of repaying a ‘political debt’ to the BRS for helping it win eight Lok Sabha seats in 2024 by now extending secret support to the BRS in the Jubilee Hills by-election.Addressing a press conference along with minister Ponnam Prabhakar and AICC secretary SA Sampath Kumar, Mahesh Goud urged voters—especially from minority communities—to remember that the previous BRS govt had sided with the BJP on key national issues. “The BRS supported the triple talaq bill and backed BJP nominees in the presidential and vice-presidential elections. Voting for the BRS now is the same as voting for the BJP,” he said. He demanded that the Election Commission register a case against BRS working president KT Rama Rao for allegedly urging voters to accept bribes, calling it a clear violation of the model code of conduct. Meanwhile, Ponnam hit out at PM Modi for his remarks on Jawaharlal Nehru, saying he “lacks understanding of India’s freedom movement and post-independence history” and must withdraw his comments.
