BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new BMW F 450 GS at EICMA 2025. The F 450 GS was first shown in concept form at the Milan Motorcycle Show last year, and has now been introduced in full production form. The new F 450 GS is a model of the partnership between BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company, and is made in India by TVS.

The new F 450 GS is built on the new 420cc parallel-twin engine platform. Available in 4 variants, the new BMW F 450 GS features a tractable engine producing 47 bhp and weighs just 178 kg. The multiple variants, adjustable suspension in the higher-spec variants, as well as the centrifugal clutch and quickshifter make it a great mid-size adventure motorcycle. Let us know what is special in the new BMW F 450 GS.

420 cc parallel-twin engine produces 47 bhp and 43 Nm torque
Engine and Easy Ride Clutch
BMW Motorrad describes the new parallel-twin engine as “smooth-running and distinctive”, with a 135-degree crankpin offset crankshaft and a single balance shaft that reduces vibration. This twin-cylinder engine produces 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm and maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm.

BMW Motorrad claims a top speed of 165 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint of 5.9 seconds. The newly designed 6-speed transmission transmits torque to the left-hand secondary drive through an X-ring chain. For faster upshifts and downshifts, all equipment variants of the F 450 GS, except the base variant, also get the Shift Assistant Pro quickshifter system. It can also be retrofitted in the base variant.

One of the technical highlights is the BMW Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), a further development of the centrifugal clutch, which eliminates the need to manually operate the clutch lever while riding. This system is standard in the GS Trophy variant and is available as an optional accessory for all other model variants. With Shift Assistant Pro, the need to manually operate the clutch lever is completely eliminated. However, the clutch lever has been retained and allows the rider to operate it manually when required – for example, to lift the front wheel over an obstacle or to improve control when descending slippery surfaces.

Design and variants
The BMW F 450 GS gets four-way X-shaped LED daytime running lights that seem to be inspired by the new BMW R 1300 GS. The large 6.5-inch TFT console provides detailed information and functionality. 3 standard ride modes – Road, Rain and Enduro are available, and an additional Enduro Pro mode is also available from the Exclusive trim level. Adjustable hand lever and heated grips come as standard.

Currently, the new BMW F 450 GS has been introduced only at the EICMA show. It is likely to be launched in India in the second half of 2026, and will compete against rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Honda NX500, KTM 390 Adventure and even the Benelli TRK 502. Once launched in India, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
