A 25-year-old woman died by suicide after struggling for years over her fear of ants in Telangana’s Hyderabad city.
Manisha, a resident of Ameenpur living with her husband and three-year-old daughter, had been battling a phobia of ants, a condition known as myrmecophobia.
Telangana Today quoted police as saying that the woman, in her suicide note, wrote that she could no longer live with the constant anxiety and asked her husband to take care of their child.
On Tuesday evening, the woman’s husband, Srikanth, returned home from work and found the door locked from inside. He sought help from neighbours to break open the door and they found Manisha’s body hanging using a saree.
Police said a case was registered on the basis of complaint filed by the woman’s parents on Wednesday and a probe has been initiated into the matter.
