BHPian dkaile recently shared this with other enthusiasts: DRL & Rear Boot Light Installation ~ 11-10-2025 – So the time had now come to go from this – To this – This was the current state of affairs of the Boot Light, which only partly lit up and the portion on the Boot was just a reflector in the GXO model, as already mentioned in my previous posts – Original Toyota parts, of the higher model type, had already been ordered while taking delivery. And within a few days, these boxes were delivered to my doorstep by the dealership. Please don’t fret if your dealership doesn’t give you this kind of home service, most don’t ~ Lolz – These are the Part #’s and MRP of both the OE lights required for this upgrade – Here is the same detailed in the detailed bill that I paid for a few days later. I paid a Total amount of Rs. 12,660.22p. for this upgrade. The same parts were available in the accessory aftermarket, in the shape of some imported parts from Thailand, for half the price, but I noted that those lights did NOT perfectly match the OE Brake Lights, at night. Hence opted for OE parts – Here are the Upgraded Lights unboxed – Rear view of these lights. R&D was done on the male connector on the light, and it was easily removed from the housing by a small flat head screw driver – It was a 3 pin connector in a 4 pin (missing) housing. And here is the legend as to what pin controls what, quite simple actually, just a 3rd pin for the LED Parking Light on the boot has been added. Reverse Light already existed in my original light ~! – Here are the Female Connectors that are required, and which were missing in my original wiring, and which my Friendly Toyota Accessory Wallah at the dealership, was kind enough to arrange for me. It was just a simple process of tapping into 3 wires (marked in red), as already explained in my previous posts, to get these lights up and running – If this helps anyone, IF you are unable to source these female connectors, you can simply tap at both ends, into the 3 wires detailed before. Legend of the 3 wires on these lights is marked in Red – OE Screws, used in the ZXO, were also sourced from the dealership, to install the DRL’s (as you will soon see in this post) – Here are all the parts, the Accessory Person sent me, to execute these upgrades flawlessly, please excuse his Hinglish – Now since installing the DRL’s involved ‘partially’ opening up the front bumper, with which I was not comfortable doing alone, I called the Workshop Accessory Person home, to do both these installs. Of course, there will be ‘bakshish’ for him. And as someone asked, Warranty! What Warranty ~ Lolz! We bungy tied the front bumper for support and to prevent any damage or scratches – This is the old OE plastic part to be replaced by the the DRL’s. Note the 3 Screws it is held on with (marked in red) and the various locking tabs again highlighted in red. Also note the the position of the Front Parking Sensor – Original Toyota Parking Sensor Housing was removed from the OE part and replaced in the new DRL, for perfect fit and finish – It was further plastic welded with soldering iron, like the original, for life long duration – OE Parking Sensor just snaps back in place, on the new DRL, as it is just held in place by plastic tabs – These sensors are now a upgraded version with 6 pins from the earlier 4 pin Toyota one’s – 3 (on each) OE screws are now attached for OE fitment of these DRL’s (Total 3 screws for the DRL and 3 (different ones) for the plastic housing, i.e. Total 6, are needed for each side) – Installation of the DRL in progress – The 3x DRL Screws marked in red – A closer view of the Parking Sensor, now fitted on the new housing – DRL Fitting Completed and detailed in red. Notice the OE Fog Light held in place by just 3 screws, and easily upgradable. Also notice the Waterproof Connector for the DRL, that I made from my bin parts. Hyperflashing Module was stuck by 3M tape on top of the DRL (visible). Yellow Indicator Wire (visible) was the only one tapped from the OE Indicator Wiring (+). Also notice the rubber vents for ventilation of any moisture. A closer look at the Waterproof DRL connector. Isn’t that OE fitting? – DRL Wiring (basically the Fog Light Wiring Kit) zip tied like OE, inside the Bumper, along with the existing wiring of the OE Fog Lamps – And here’s the DRL Fitted! Can you differentiate it from the OE part on the ZXO? – And here’s the DRL Light in Operation . And unlike the ZXO, this doesn’t switch off when the Headlights Turn On. It is fully controllable by me via the switch on the dashboard — And here’s a YouTube Video of the same, that I made, of the Startup Animation of these DRL’s (only on first startup), the Matrix Indicators and then the DRL’s coming back on – https://youtu.be/wY9VDfq2flg?si=VZJ3XhW8fKNHUK8Y ————- Next, we proceeded to the installation of the Rear Boot Lights. And the Rear Plastic Trim with the Toyota Logo, was removed, held in place by 4 screws and some plastic locks – Rear View of the same, reveals where the 4 screws go and the plastic locks – Rear Boot Light Installation in the following post, continues – MUCH MUCH more to come. Cheers… Read BHPian comments for more insights and information.
