Accusing the BRS and BJP of “stalling Hyderabad’s growth and looting Telangana’s resources,” Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy appealed to the voters of Jubilee Hills to “vote after comparing Congress’ record of development with that of BRS and BJP.”
Addressing a press conference at his residence on Friday, he said, “From 2004 to 2014, the Congress ruled both at the Centre and State. From 2014 to 2023, BRS was in power here and the BJP at the Centre. Compare what each achieved and then decide your vote.”
Listing out Congress’s contribution to Hyderabad’s transformation, the Chief Minister said, “International Airport, Metro Rail, Knowledge centres, IT expansion, pharma, all these developments began under the Congress regime. Hyderabad’s revenue growth is based on Congress’ long-term planning.”
Terming Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy and BRS working president K.T Rama Rao as ‘bad brothers’, he accused them of derailing major projects. “BRS and BJP stopped the ITIR project to Hyderabad,” he said. If both BJP and BRS had supported us, we could have expanded the Metro, brought Godavari waters, and cleaned the Musi. “Why are you obstructing Musi rejuvenation, Kishan Reddy? Why did you surrender to KTR,?” he asked.
The Chief Minister also accused BRS of encroaching 44 out of 695 city lakes, including Bathukamma Kunta, Sunnam Cheruvu and Nalla Cheruvu, which have been restored by the HYDRAA. KTR is politically targeting HYDRAA as the loot is being exposed now, he claimed.
He challenged both KTR and Mr. Kishan Reddy to show one project that created jobs for unemployed youth. “We filled government jobs and KTR filled the city with drugs,” he remarked. He further accused BJP of saving KTR, KCR and Mr. Harish Rao from cases due to their understanding. The Centre has tied state’s hands in arresting those who failed Kaleshwaram, E-car race and phone tapping.
The Chief Minister declared confidently that BRS will be defeated annd BJP will lose its deposit. He also asked BJP Ministers Mr. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar whether they were ready to take the challenge on retaining the deposit.
Mr. Revanth Reddy also alleged that former CM “KCR wasted over ₹1 lakh crore on projects like Kaleshwaram and built Pragati Bhavan for himself and his family. He demolished the Secretariat just for his son’s vaastu beliefs and built a new one. Did anyone get jobs because of it? Did the poor benefit? Even the Command Control Centre was built for phone-tapping.”
