Ravi Teja has been facing criticism for sticking to formulaic, mass-oriented films. Despite his attempts to experiment with projects like “Tiger Nageswara Rao” and “Eagle,” the core themes have remained action-driven. Unfortunately, most of his recent releases, nearly half a dozen, have underperformed at the box office.
His latest outing “Mass Jathara” turned out to be an even bigger disappointment, prompting many fans to urge him to break free from the “mass” rut and explore fresh genres.
It now appears that Ravi Teja has taken the feedback seriously. The actor is consciously moving toward family dramas, light-hearted entertainers, and fantasy-based stories. He is currently shooting for a Kishore Tirumala directorial, a family-centric film where he plays a suave, stylish husband.
Next, he is set to collaborate with directors like Shiva Nirvana for a trendy family drama, and is also in talks with Mad franchise director Kalyan Shankar and Bimbisara fame Vasishta for comedy and fantasy projects respectively.
If these plans take shape, Ravi Teja will finally be stepping away, at least for now, from the “mass-action” genre that has long defined his career.
