Bhagyashri Borse: Kaantha will show a new side of me

Bhagyashri Borse, who has been getting many films lately, is now set to make a strong impression with Kaantha, co-starring Dulquer Salmaan. In this candid chat, she talks about her role, working with big stars, and what makes “Kaantha” so special. The film is set for release on November 14, 2025.

What is your role like in Kantha? What excited you about it?

“Kaantha” is a very special film for me. The character of Kumari has tremendous scope for performance. It’s the kind of role every actor dreams of. Sharing the screen with Dulquer garu and Rana garu made it even more memorable.

I play Kumari, who is from the 1960s, so I had to recreate that era’s body language and mannerisms. I watched many old Telugu and Tamil films and closely observed Sridevi and Savitri’s performances. Taking inspiration from them, I shaped my version of Kumari. It was challenging but very fulfilling.

Was this the first film you signed?

Yes, Kantha was the first story I heard. However, due to some delays, it started a little late. In the meantime, I worked on two other projects. So technically, this was the first film I signed, but not the first one to be completed.

I first heard the story in 2023, and the journey since then has been beautiful. For a newcomer, getting such a performance-driven role is rare, and I truly value that opportunity. Rana garu is deeply passionate about cinema. He talks, breathes, and lives movies. I learned a lot just by observing him. Dulquer garu is equally inspiring and very grounded. Director Selva is a very talented filmmaker. His writing has a certain honesty and warmth.

You’ve worked with Ravi Teja, Vijay Deverakonda, and now Dulquer. How has that journey been?

I feel blessed. All of them have been extremely kind and supportive. As a newcomer, that kind of encouragement means a lot.

Kaantha and Andhra King Taluka are releasing back-to-back. How do you feel?

Honestly, I’m both excited and nervous. I’ve given my 100% to both films. Kaantha will present me as a performer, while Andhra King is a completely different space, it’s a fan biopic. Both films are very special to me.

What are your upcoming projects?

There are a few Telugu and Hindi films in discussion, but it’s too early to share details. For now, my focus is on “Kaantha” and “Andhra King Taluka”.
