Advocates urge govt to enact protection act, submit representation to Lokesh

Vijayawada: Advocates under the aegis of the AP State Bar Federation met IT minister Nara Lokesh and submitted a representation urging the govt to enact an exclusive law for the Advocates Protection Act in the state on Wednesday. A delegation led by AP State Bar Federation president A K Basha, along with general secretary Y Siva Subramanyam, and Dhone Bar Association members L Krishna Prasad and K Eswaraiah, among others, who came on a foot march from Dhone, met Lokesh and submitted a representation underlining the need for the Advocates Protection Act. They also urged him to fulfil his promise, which he made during his Yuvagalam padayatra, by enacting the law. On the occasion, Lokesh responded positively to the advocates’ plea and assured them that the guidelines for the protection act are being framed. He stated that the act will be enacted at the earliest for the safety and security of the advocates in the state.
