Yamaha recently introduced two production ready electric scooters at its event in India, the Aerox 155-based Aerox e and EC-06. The new EC-06, seen testing on Indian roads earlier this year, is the much-awaited Yamaha variant of EV start-up River’s indie electric scooter, with which Yamaha has partnered in 2024.

Despite being based on the Indy, Yamaha has made significant changes to its design, although some design elements, such as the bulging headlamps, remain intact. The EC-06 sports a more angular and sporty look with its triangular side panels and sculpted front apron. The upper apron is black in color and houses a large stacked headlamp with turn signals just below the handlebar. There is a colored LCD display above the handlebar which has an in-built telematics unit with a SIM card. This scooter also has three ride modes and a reverse mode.
Talking about practicality, the EC-06 has 24.5 liters of under-seat storage available.
Talking about the powertrain, the EC-06 has a 4 kWh battery and an electric motor that produces 6.7 kW of peak power and 4.5 kW of continuous power. Certified range is 160 km. Talking about charging, Yamaha says that it takes about 9 hours to fully charge with the on-board charger.
