Addressing the buzz that “Kaantha” might be a biopic, Rana clarified, “It’s a completely fictional story. It’s inspired by a bygone era of cinema. It was a time when great artists competed for creative brilliance. It’s not based on anyone’s grandfather or father,” he said with a laugh.
Dulquer added, “I instantly connected with the story. It’s a fictional tale told with great emotion and authenticity. Kantha is one of those rare films that come once in a lifetime. You can’t recreate such experiences easily.”
Talking about the casting, Rana revealed, “Director Selva searched for the heroine for almost six months. When we met Bhagyashree Borse, she seemed too modern for the part, but once she auditioned with Dulquer, we knew she was perfect.”
