NIZAMABAD: Traffic police conducted special inspections and seized 350 modified silencers fitted to two-wheelers. Legal action was taken against those using such silencers, and they were immediately confiscated.
Acting on the instructions of Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya, additional DCP G. Baswa Reddy oversaw the destruction of the seized silencers using a road roller in front of the Nizamabad railway station. Baswa Reddy stated that strict legal action would be taken against motorists who illegally install modified silencers that cause noise pollution.
He added that installing such silencers disturbs public peace, affects mental well-being, and harms public health, and those responsible will face severe punishment. Businesses involved in selling or fitting modified silencers will also face legal consequences, he warned.
Under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, those caught driving under the influence of alcohol face a fine of ₹10,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both, he explained. Traffic ACP Mastan Ali, ACP L. Raja Venkat Reddy, and others were present.
