The second-generation Kia Seltos will make its global debut on 10th December in Korea, followed by its India launch in early 2026. The model has been undergoing testing for quite some time now, and spotted multiple times wearing heavy camouflage. Spy images reveal that the 2026 Kia Seltos will witness radical design changes and feature upgrades over the current generation.
With this generational shift, the Seltos will go hybrid while retaining its existing engine setup in India. However, the hybrid version is likely to join the lineup later (possibly in 2027). The 115bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel engines will continue to be on offer.
New 7-Speed AT Gearbox?
Transmissions will also be carried over from the current model. According to media reports, the new-gen lineup might get a new 7-speed automatic gearbox exclusively for the 1.5L diesel engine. At present, the Seltos diesel is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options.
Kia Seltos Hybrid – What to Expect?
The hybrid system could be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. This same petrol-hybrid powertrain will also power the upcoming Kia 7-seater SUV. The new Kia Seltos hybrid might be introduced in global markets first, ahead of its India launch. An e-Awd system could also be part of the package, though the India-spec version is expected to miss out on it.
New Design Language
The 2026 Kia Seltos will adopt the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ design language, featuring a redesigned front grille, slim and angular vertical DRLs, revised fog lamp assembly, new alloy wheels and connected taillamps. The SUV will also grow in overall dimension.
Expected Features
To enhance its value proposition, Kia is likely to add new features and advanced tech in the 2026 Kia Seltos. The SUV might borrow the Trinity Panoramic display from the Syros. The SUV could also get a differently designed dashboard, new upholstery and more.
