Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday framed the Congress victory in the Jubilee Hills byelection as a clear endorsement of his govt’s nearly two-year governance record, claiming that the party’s vote share had jumped from 39.5% in the 2023 assembly elections to 50.8% in the bypoll. “Fiftyone per cent of the people now stand with the Congress. They have endorsed our development agenda and welfare schemes,” he said, calling the verdict a reaffirmation of public confidence. Thanking voters for delivering a second consecutive bypoll win after the 2023 elections, Revanth appealed to the BRS leadership—KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao—and Union minister G Kishan Reddy to ‘at least now’ cooperate with the state govt.He said people had judged the two-year record of all parties and punished both the BRS and BJP, which lost its deposit in Jubilee Hills. Revanth said the resounding mandate increased his responsibility to accelerate Hyderabad’s transformation. “The victory strengthens our resolve to develop Greater Hyderabad into an international-level metropolis—expanding the metro rail, rejuvenating the Musi, building the Regional Ring Road and radial roads, easing traffic, completing flyovers, bringing additional Godavari water, and making the city garbage-free,” he said. He said that 60-65% of Telangana’s revenue comes from Greater Hyderabad, including Jubilee Hills. “It is our duty to protect this city from drugs through EAGLE and safeguard water bodies through HYDRAA,” he said. The CM accused both the BRS and BJP of obstructing the govt’s development plans at every stage. Revanth invited Kishan Reddy to the secretariat to discuss pending projects and central funds. Revanth criticised the BRS for what he described as ‘vicious social media campaigns, fake surveys, and negative propaganda’ against HYDRAA and Musi redevelopment. He urged KTR and Harish to ‘correct their approach’ and stop standing in the way of the city’s growth. The CM directed deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka to convene a review meeting at the secretariat with Kishan Reddy, Union minister Bandi Sanjay, and all MPs from Congress, BJP, and BRS to present a consolidated list of projects requiring central support. “People deserve to know who is helping the state and who is blocking development,” he said. Calling the performance of the BJP and BRS in the bypoll ‘alarming’ for them, Revanth said the verdict was a warning to Kishan Reddy. “This is like a low intensity tremor before an earthquake. If the Union minister does not change course, the BJP will be buried in future political tremors,” he warned.Asked if the victory reflected support for HYDRAA, CM Revanth said multiple factors shaped the mandate. Fine rice, 200 units free power, ₹500 gas cylinders, free bus travel for women, HYDRAA, EAGLE, and two years of Congress governance, he said.Revanth thanked Jubilee Hills voters on X: “From grassroots workers to the PCC president, everyone worked as a team. This victory is dedicated to party workers.” He also announced that his Telangana Rising–2047 vision document would be unveiled on Dec 8.
