A 150 kilowatt roof-top on-grid solar power plant was inaugurated by Chairman and Managing Director of the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) N. Balram at Tekulapally Colony in Yellandu area on Sunday.
After the inauguration, Mr. Balram enquired about the establishment of the roof-top solar unit, its capacity and other details from engineers. Later, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new library building at Regallapadu.
At another event in the company’s head office in Kothagudem, the CMD handed over a cheque for ₹1 crore as accident insurance claim amount to the family members of Mohd. Abdul Azeem, who was killed in an accident in Khammam area on February 25. Similarly, he handed over a cheque for ₹40 lakh to the family members of B. Rajeshwar Rao, who was killed in a train accident on February 2, 2024.
He stated that the claim was less to Rajeshwar Rao as the memorandum of agreement in force in 2024 prescribed a lesser claim limit. Mr. Balram said no other State Government or no other public sector undertaking in the country had introduced such a huge accidental insurance cover to its workers/employees. As per the present MoU, the SCCL workers/employees would get a maximum claim up to ₹1.25 crore to ensure protection to the family concerned.
