An awareness programme on women’s safety and cybersecurity was organised by Adilabad district police as part of ‘Police Akka’ initiative at the Government Junior College for girls in Adilabad town on Monday.

The programme, organised under the aegis of Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, was aimed at raising awareness about the specialised services of SHE teams, the dedicated force of Telangana police for women’s safety, legal awareness and important provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, police said.

As many as 53 awareness programmes were organised as part of ‘Police Akka’ initiatives at various places in the district in the past one week.

Around 12 complaints were received, eight petty cases were registered and four counselling sessions were conducted as part of this initiative aimed at curbing eve-teasing and harassment of women including girls, sources added.

According to the district police, women in distress can dial 100 or 8712659953 when in trouble or in case of emergency.
