Life with a Mahindra Thar & BMW M340i: Quick ownership updates BHPian robimahanta recently shared this with other enthusiasts:Mahindra Thar – 53,000kmThe Thar has been a fantastic companion so far. It’s just needed regular servicing-nothing out of the ordinary. Recently, I swapped the tyres to MRF Wanderer ATs (stock size) after scoring a solid deal from someone upgrading to BFG K02s on delivery. Short trail drives with the “Thar Bengaluru” group have been a real highlight. Every time, the Thar impresses with how capable it is over mixed terrain-and it doesn’t cost a fortune to keep running. Simple, solid, and up for any adventure. Sharing a few snaps from our group drives below. BMW M340i – 34,000kmThanks to Bangalore’s ever-worsening roads, the M340i hasn’t covered a lot of ground recently; it’s nearing five years now. Some upgrades, though: the ECU’s been unlocked and flashed with BM3 OTS Multimap, plus the TCU got an xHP Stage 2 tune. I’ve toned down all pops and bangs and can now switch maps from the steering controls based on fuel quality. Side benefit of all the Ethanol blending being that the car runs cooler and the octane rating of fuel in India has improved. The 10-15% drop in mileage is definitely a disadvantage. Right now, the M340i is putting down about 400hp and 600Nm, and easily hits 0-100kmph in under 4 seconds. It’ll do a quarter-mile in the high 11s or low 12s, depending on conditions. Every drive is a treat, and for the performance it delivers, it’s hard to find better value in the current market. Read BHPian comments for more insights and information.
